Abstract

Migration to cloud computing is a strategic organisational decision requiring careful consideration. It requires evaluation of business requirements, cloud services, benefits as well as associated risks.  The increase in the number of cloud-based services, cloud standards, regulations, service providers and diversity of organisations’ needs have resulted in the level of complexity. This paper proposes a model to aid the decision making process for migration to cloud computing. To ensure systematic migration, this model supports decisions at all levels, including the intelligence and design phases that are neglected by existing cloud Decision Support Systems (DSSes). It incorporates business strategy, cloud environment, cloud suitability, risk assessment, vendor evaluation and implementation.
