Abstract

,,A new day for a job" is the joint project of the collaborators Microsoft Croatia and Croatian association for the promotion of the informatical education, in the context of which the unemployed persons' instruction for a computer work was carried out.
The instruction was conducted from June to September 2007 in five districts of the Republic of Croatia: the disctricts of Bjelovarsko-bilogorska, Koprivnicko-krizevacka, Licko-senjska, Vukovarsko-srijemska and Zadarska. The instruction included 425 attendants chosen by the staff of the Croatian employment institute based on the length of the registration period at the Employment institute.
The courses were organized in 40 lessons' duration and the elaborated programs were Windows XP, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point and Internet while the lessons were held in specialised informatic workrooms in groups of 12 to a maximum of 15 persons. The lecturers were certified ECDL trainers and at the end of the courses the attendants took for a test similar to ECDL tests. All the course attendants were in this way prepared for the ECDL tests that can be voluntarily taken by them and which are to be registered in their labour booklets. This project was aimed to enable the course attendants which were unemployed and with bad financial state to arrive to the registration of the ECDL certificate in their booklets with smaller own expenses. The need for a wholelife education is not anymore a privilege of some persons, but a need without which is not possible to fulfill the emplyers' requests towards a single person.
The test results were processed with different statistic methods on the basis of the professional preparation, the age and the period of time passed at the Employment institute.
